This program comes from one of Paolo Freire's reflections which says "No one is, if others are forbidden". We are all individuals and we are all part of the the community, which ultimately is what makes us human. The more than 150 boys and girls at our school are all different. These differences make for completely distinct individuals with different emotions and abilities. This diversity enlarges our efforts and the world in which we are working together. Lights of Hope trusts that education will ensure the creation of a fair world, with equally distributed resources. Everyone will have the same rights and responsibilities as well as the the same access the resources available. This must be done while keeping in mind that the differences that make us individuals, as well as society and culture, and a cultural exchange through living together enrich our personal growth.

But in order for this exchange to be fairer, we see that it's necessary to reinforce the integration of the children who participate in our program. Some lack the same abilities as the the rest of the children. Hence the implementation of the Integra Program: psychological and teaching support for children with special psycho-educational needs. It's a plan that strengthens special education services and the process of educational integration so that the children with special education needs (with and without disabilities) receive the educational attention they require and thus have access to a better quality of life.

Through a specific program of diagnosis and planning, the children receive psycho-pedagogical support that strengthens their skills and addresses their needs and difficulties. Teachers who specialize in this area also receive support at certain points from volunteers with experience in the fields of physiotherapy, special education, social education, occupational therapy and psychology to provide them with new tools to work with as well as to invigorate the activities while answering questions, finding solutions and tweaking approaches with regards to the child.
